Background:
David Archer was born thirty years ago to a perfectly normal mid-class All-American family, the youngest of three children. Or so he thought. It was all a lie. An elaborate falsification intended to shape his mind as his body was shaped.
David is the only successful test-subject of a top-secret government project called Project C.E.L (Cellularly Enhanced Leadership), designed to genetically engineer a perfect leader for an imperfect future, to lead the human race to victory over the so-called mutant-menace. David is not a mutant, but a human genetically-engineered to max out the abilities the human genome can offer without crossing the line into mutantship (the ironic truth is, of course, that there is no such line. Ultra-sensitive mutant detectors will still identify David as a very low-powered mutant). After his birth, David was put into the care of his “family”, which was of course not a family at all – his “father” was the chief scientist in charge of the project, his “mother” a government observer in charge of making sure that he is brought up “properly” and his “older brothers” hired muscle just in case something went wrong.
When he was eighteen, he took after his “mother’s” teachings and joined the army, becoming a navy seal. His ascension through the ranks was fast, and it wasn’t long before he became an officer. Only after he achieved command of his own team, did the directors of project C.E.L reveal to him who he really was. He was given the secret identity of C.E.L and the command of a special anti-mutant S.W.A.T team and sent off with their blessings.
Only after leading his team to mission after mission against the scattered mutant forces did he learn the truth about those he thought he despised – that they were people too. That they had feelings, hopes and fears. That they too deserved to live. For months he struggled with these thoughts, unable to undo the brainwashing he had undergone by Project C.E.L.
It was a routine mission – intelligence had picked up two mutants down in the slums. They were to arrest them for questioning, and kill them if they tried to resist. He had ordered them to stop, but they tried to run. The squad’s sniper took out the older man with a shot to the head, killing him before he even touched the ground. His second shot went through the girl’s lung, dropping her to the ground. They closed in on her, David leading, as he was trained to do. She was just laying there, slowly suffocating on her own blood. “Please”, her lips hardly shaped the words, “Please”. Seeing her lying there helpless, no older than sixteen, and slowly fading away because of nothing more than prejudice and bigotry made him finally snap. He killed two of his teammates before they understood what was happening. The other three put up a short firefight, but eventually subdued to the better warrior. He picked her up on his shoulder and fled.
Running, injured and starving they found their way through New York’s slums. The girl, X-Quisite, was able to lead him back to the X-Men’s head quarters. Reluctantly, they had to accept him into the team, even though he was only barely a mutant. Having nowhere else he could go, he changed his name to David Solomon and his superheroic persona to X-Cel.
Now, two years later, he has once again climbed through the ranks, becoming the natural leader he was born to be. A perfect leader for an imperfect future.

Personality:
David is a leader. Not only by title or by training, but by every fiber of his being. His is completely devoted to his duties as leader, and values his teammates above all, even above his own life. If one of his team members is injured, he will charge to his rescue pouring out blasts of death on his way, ignoring any danger to himself.
Over the years, David was able to negate the effects of the brainwashing he endured from Project C.E.L, and actually grew a huge resentment to the message of hatred they tried to spread.
Most of the team look up to him, and he treats them with the respect they deserve (even though he tends to be a bit overprotective of them), with one notable exception. David is slowly discovering that he is falling in love with X-Quisite, which he finds very troubling, not only because she is younger than him by over a decade and not only because she is under his command, but also because she seems to have feelings towards X-Travaganza

Appearance:
David is a tall and impressive man, muscular, but not overly so. His hair is blond and cut short in a military style and his blue eyes convey wisdom beyond his years. Just beneath his left shoulder he has a tattoo of a skull he got when he was a navy seal with the words “Ready to Lead, Ready to Follow, Never Quit” around it.
When in his superheroic guise as X-Cel he still wears his old black and blue Kevlar armor from when he was known as C.E.L, only now with a big bright red “X” on the front, and an eye band to conceal his identity.

Powers/Tactics:
Being the leader of the team, David usually coordinates the X-Men’s actions on the field. He is a brilliant tactician and under his guide they have turned from a group of mutants to a deadly superpowered squad, able to take on almost any threat.
David is a highly advanced Homo-Sapience, on the brink of being a mutant. He has a highly developed immune system and he heals faster than normal people do (although not nearly like a mutant healing factor would do) and has extremely keen senses.
In combat, David relies mainly on his commando training and the equipment he has left from his days at Project C.E.L. He carries a high-tech assault rifle equipped with both a flame-thrower (above the rifle barrel) and a grenade-launcher (underneath it). When cornered into hand to hand combat he is still a lethal fighter due to his navy seal training. In such situations he will try to use his rifle as a hand to hand weapon (either with its bayonet or with its butt), but he is quite able of handling himself even if it is taken from him.

Notes:
X-Cel is not built as a standard superhero (200 points + 150 points from disadvantages), but as a high powered one (300 points + 150 points from disadvantages) due to his great experience.
